Here’s a brief report on our JCAC meeting 4/21; if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

In attendance: Chris Byrne, Jill Lund, David Shapiro, Gina Lorenz, Rosemary Sutton, Terrence Hsiao.

This meeting was a “study session” to talk about how CIEs are used (or not) by the Deans and Administration in making evaluations of faculty, especially associate faculty.  It was prompted by questions that have come up over the years, (and perhaps especially last year, during the Priority Hire process), and a general lack of clarity about what happens to CIEs after

Here was the  agenda:

  1. Clarify Non-Medical (death, etc.) Leave Requests (JL)
  1. Discussion on our mutual interpretation of the following part of Article 8.06 (GL)

8.06 Moonlight Assignments

Full-Time Tenured and Tenure-Track Faculty members may request to teach an additional six (6) credits per quarter as a moonlight load(s), provided the appropriate Dean has approved and the credit load per quarter does not exceed twenty-one (21) credits.
